Drumming Etiquette

Practicing good etiquette for drumming is necessary because a breach in etiquette is a sure way to offend someone, if not a way to be asked to leave. The best way to avoid this is to know what is expected of you before you go! Use these guidelines, but as always, check the rules by asking people around you or Lead Singer.

Bring your own seating when attending drumming, seating may be tight. Foldaway chairs are the most common way of solving this.

Always ask the Lead Singer to sit at a drum. Many times drums are closed, meaning that the Lead Singer has chosen who is to sit at the drum. You can not argue with this decision.

Know the songs you are to sing. If you ask to be on a drum or sing, the Lead Singer must assume that you can sing all the songs he knows. Be prepared.

Never sing too loud or over-beat. Mistakes such as these are overlooked, but a gifting or contribution to the drum is appropriate.

Everything goes around the drum in a clockwise direction, do not pass things over the drum.

Ladies are not to sit in the first row of a drum or strike the drum (in most cases).

Donate money to the Drum. This is done after drumming and given to the Lead Singer, this to help with expenses and keeping the drum.

Always sing your best and enjoy yourself.

Remember you are a guest. Have fun, ask questions and meet people.
