The
Inipi - Sweatlodge is a ceremony performed for the purpose of prayer for help,
health and healing. This ceremony is performed in a small lodge with heated stones
and will be run with four doors. This means that the door of the lodge will be
opened a total of four times during the ceremony, this honors the four
directions. During each round, when the door is down, there are sacred songs,
prayers are spoken and sometimes teachings are given. The Water Pourer will
call for silence when the stone people are being brought in at the beginning of
each round, out of respect for the stone people being honored to help with the
ceremony.
Following
the ceremony, we have a shared meal that is brought by those who attend and
help with the ceremony. The communal meal is an important part of ceremonies.
Please, do not leave the ceremony without thanking the Water Pourer, Singer and
Fire-tender.
We
respect that you come to Ceremony with an understanding of your spiritual path
and traditions, our Ceremonies are not restricted to any specific religion,
tradition or path. Ceremony is a way of life and a time for prayer. Pets,
alcohol, and illegal substances are not allowed.
